Frei Family | Durham, NC { Eno River Family Portraits }

A few weeks ago, Hurricane Irma drove this adorable family out of Florida and over to us in Durham, North Carolina. I’ve known Gabi since way back to when I was probably just a few years old, so it was a delight to photograph her adorable family! We chose the Eno River State Park as the setting for their family portraits.

The Frei kiddos were actually some of the easiest I’ve ever photographed – they were dying to show off for the camera and happy to run, jump, skip, and perform any other wild and daring feat of proweress I might ask of them.

This photo above of all four kids was actually supposed to be just of Noah (the baby of the family), but the instant the three oldest saw him posing by himself they all jumped into the photo – too funny! Good thing he was happy to share the lime light!

Eno River State Park is actually quite a bit bigger than I first realized, but the eastern side of the park has some gorgeous locations for photographers. I especially loved this long bridge near Cole Mill.

I asked the kids to show off their best crazy laughs and Daniel took me up on the challenge. I’m certain I’ve never seen or heard as maniacal of a laugh from such a small person as that day! The entire family couldn’t help but laugh at his craziness.

I love photographing an entire family smushed happily together in a big, snuggly dog pile. Makes for such cozy and intimate portraits!

We finished up our family portrait session with some photos on this beautiful, forest-y path. The light was perfect.

Gabi and Jonathan, you guys make adorable kids! <3 So happy that even though the circumstances weren’t the best, we were able to meet up and take these photographs. Looking forward to your next trip to Durham!
