Is there anything more special than a girl finding out she’ll be a big sister? This lifestyle family & maternity session took place a few months ago during my quick trip to Chicago. We caught the perfect glow of setting sun behind all the Weeping Willows, which made for the most gorgeous light. These kinds of sessions are the best: filled with lots of wandering, conversation, and giggles from the kiddo. Speaking of which, isn’t her palm leaf romper adorable? I love a girl with style! Lizzie, the mama, was glowing in her final trimester of pregnancy and sporting a perfect bump. The city skyline behind her made for a great backdrop and dad, who was running a bit late at work that day, was able to pop in just in time to catch the final round of photos!
Seriously, I LOVE Weeping Willows for photographs. Their branches help diffuse the light in the most romantic and gorgeous way and who doesn’t love to sit next to them? On a funny-but-not-really note, though, always be wary of nesting birds in the summer. >-< I cut across the lawn of this park to check out which tree would work best for a backdrop and found myself being dive bombed by an outraged bird. Hilarious as it sounds, it was more than a little terrifying and gave me flashbacks of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds.
These black and white images set against the Chicago River were some of my favorite. Stunning!
This lifestyle family & maternity session was the perfect mixture of unposed fun and planned shots.
Finally, a quick photo of the parents and the baby bump before this family of three becomes a family of four!
