Gaja is pregnant! After planning countless baby showers for her many sisters, this beautiful girl and her little baby finally got their turn to be showered in love! When planning began, all the sisters agreed that an earth goddess baby shower theme was a must. Not only are Gaja and her husband, Dan, really outdoorsy (their honeymoon involved backpacking all over South America and their weekends spent around their home in California often involve hiking trips into stunning mountain landscapes), but Gaja’s name, of course, comes from the goddess of the earth. How perfect is that? The baby shower took place at her childhood home in Illinois right at the beginning of summer – the ideal time to best enjoy all the lush woods and blooming flowers!
The entire house was full of the most beautiful flower arrangements, put together by her sister’s mother-in-law, Lynn. I especially loved the little terrariums!
All of us sisters and sister-in-laws (only missing Sarah and Saule!) came together for the traditional hands-on-bump photo we keep recreating every year or so! Gaja’s baby will be the fifteenth grandbaby on the Sidrys side and the tie-breaker for girls v. boys. Everyone has pretty strong opinions on whether they think she’ll be having a girl or boy! Me? Let the records show that I’m team girl!
How adorable are these earth themed cake pops? A friend of the family made them and they disappeared quickly as people began tasting them!
The cake was a true masterpiece, also decorated to look like Mother Earth, with two tiny footprints in the center. It was created by a family friend, Gitana, who also made the cake for Gaja’s older sister’s shower! The food was catered by Gaja’s high school friends, Allison and Jeff, who have just opened up their own restaurant in La Grange: The Clever Fig! Appetizers were put together by the Sidrys sisters. I especially loved the pretty ice cubes with frozen fruits in them.
Gaja’s parents, Linas and Rima, did a fantastic job hosting the gathering! Linas was being such a fantastic father and grandfather and was doing so much hosting and wine serving and helping with the grandchildren, in fact, that I only realized after the fact that I didn’t get a single photo of him! Here’s a cell phone photo of him playing with Aidas!
Gaja, you look absolutely radiant! I can not wait to meet my newest niece or nephew! They are so loved already and I know you and Dan will be amazing, loving parents. <3
